Have you ever felt about anything that you lost at any point in your life? Did you have an experience of being gloomy if someone you love is away? Did you ever imagine that if someone living in your family suddenly disappears? These experiences, when investigated, trigger many questions around the thinking process and event itself. This project is about the trauma, pain and stress behind the phenomena of missing a soul and how do we remember them? How other around us sees this tragedy? It highlights the efforts and energy one puts to find the whereabouts of missing soul. The project also gives honor to those who are missing in metaphorical way.

“QUARANTINED IN MY WORKSHOP” Series
This project was realized during the quarantine period I spent in my home during this pandemic. I used material and discarded switch boards available in my studio. The project grows with the passage of time and gave an interesting insight of how you can reimagine and reshape material around you and can make meaning around it. The necklace displayed is interactive and wearer is able to interoperate his/her own story by adding found object available around.
Muhammad Umar is educationist and a jewelry artist in Pakistan. He got his initial education from National College of Arts and did “Masters In Contemporary Art For Educator (MCAE ) in “Jewelry And Object” from University of Sydney Australia. He completed his MPhil In Art And Design Education from PIFD. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor/Course Coordinator in Gems and Jewelry Design Department at Pakistan Instate of Fashion and Design.
Muhammad has done a number of exhibitions at national and international level. His interest is toward the object and their interpretation in daily life. He talks about material in narrative way and tell the story of each material used and object made with personal experiences. The nuance of material and its dialoged can be seen in his pieces very well.
